CHICAGOMay 7, 2019 /PRNewswire/ — KDM President and Founder Kimberly Moore was recently honored with The Chicago Council on Science and Technology’s (C2ST) Young Professional Award for her work to increase awareness in STEM fields for underrepresented youth through her nonprofit organization, Calculated Genius, Inc. On the same day, Moore’s company, KDM Engineering, was named one of Women Presidents’ Organization’s (WPO) 50 Fastest Growing Women-Owned/Led Companies at their 12th annual awards ceremony in Charlotte, NC. KDM has been ranked 15th among this year’s WPO 50 Fastest list.

“I am delighted that this year our rankings show that women entrepreneurs are branching out into every sector of business,” said WPO President and Founder Dr. Marsha Firestone. “We are also very encouraged that companies of all sizes, such as KDM Engineering, are represented. Some smaller but very successful companies demonstrated significant growth this year.”

To fulfill KDM’s mission to alter the face of the male-dominated engineering field, Moore founded Calculated Genius, Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to increasing awareness in STEM fields for women and minorities through various mentorship opportunities and educational programs. Moore was honored to be recognized by C2ST, a local organization, for her work with Chicago-area youth.

“I’m so proud of the work my team and I have put in to help KDM grow into the successful, preferred engineering company it is today,” said Kimberly Moore, President and Founder of KDM Engineering. “And to also be recognized on the same day for the work we’re doing in our local communities to introduce underrepresented youth to STEM fields was truly an honor. Thank you to C2ST and WPO.”
