Join the Chicago Park District, Friends of Big Marsh, the Geographic Society, the Wetlands Initiative and C2ST for the 6th Annual Birds, Bikes, and Beats festival at Big Marsh Park. This event is a celebration of the people, wildlife, and activities that help make Big Marsh Park a one-of-a-kind destination! The festival will include music, food, and fun. This event closes out a weekend of fun at the park that begins Saturday with our Biodiversity Festival – see our website for more information!

Schedule of Events:

Join us at the Ford Calumet Environmental Center, a gateway to the Calumet Region.

10-10:45 a.m. Mapping the Calumet Region: Presentation from Mark Bouman on the work of Alfred Meyer.

11-11:45 a.m. Meet scientists and organizations from across the Calumet region, meet live animals, and

participate in arts and science-based activities.

Noon-1 p.m. Break out into BioBlitz groups based on common interests. Leaders will guide groups across the park to record nature observations!

1-2 p.m. Return to base camp for food, music, and conversation.

C2ST will work with our partners to ensure that COVID protocols put in place by the CDC, and the city at large, are followed and well-communicated. COVID protocols and any other emergent information will be emailed to all registrants the week of the program.
